Lose your face with Intruders movie trailer

Intruders movie posterThe list of Hollywood horror icons include such names as Freddy, Jason, and Pinhead. Will Hollow Face be added to that roster?

Intruder, starring Clive Owen, introduces a new character that goes around stealing the faces of children, but is he real or just the figment of a young girl’s imagination? Reality and fantasy become blurred in the new horror-thriller by director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo.

This looks like it will be a real nail-biter because there always seems to be an extra edge to the terror when children are the targets… and I love that wicked poster.

Intruders hits theaters on March 30.

New Trailer for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter

The new trailer for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter recently hit the web, and this movie looks like it’s going to be awesome.

I haven’t read Seth Grahame-Smith’s 2010 mashup novel of the same name that the film is based on, but I think I’ll be adding it to my TBR pile now. While the title makes it seem like something that would be a little tongue-in-cheek, the movie trailer shows that the 16th President of the United States battling an undead army is being viewed as the real deal, with what appears to be a smooth blending of fact with fiction.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter hits theaters on June 22.

The Vampire Lestat to Return to Big Screen in The Tale of the Body Thief?

The Tale of the Body Thief by Anne RiceWe first saw Anne Rice’s Lestat in 1994’s Interview With the Vampire, with Tom Cruise playing Lestat. The vampire was back in 2002′s Queen of the Damned, with Stuart Townsend playing the character. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, it looks like Lestat might come back to the big screen, with Rice’s The Tale of the Body Thief being optioned by Imagine Entertainment.

The Tale of the Body Thief, the fourth book in Rice’s series, The Vampire Chronicles, tells the story of Lestat switching bodies with a psychic so he can escape the drudgery of being a vampire for a little while. Meanwhile, the psychic, who’s actually thrilled to have all the powers of the undead, splits, forcing Lestat to track him down so he can get his body back.

Books get optioned all the time, but that doesn’t mean they’ll actually complete the journey from page to screen, so maybe we won’t be assaulted by this. I couldn’t finish Interview with the Vampire in book form, couldn’t stand Cruise as a vampire, and was even less enthused with Queen of the Damned. Lestat was one of those first angsty vampires that opened the door to allow Edward Cullen into our world. I’m ready for the Twilight craze to die so vampires can once again reign from their blood-drenched thrones. The Tale of the Body Thief might keep the emo vampire in the spotlight, and it needs to have a stake driven through its heart.

Take a Journey Through Terror with the Horror Portfolio Video

Jack Nicholson in The Shining

If you love horror movies (and who doesn’t?), then you’re going to want to check out the Horror Portfolio, which contains peeks of sixty-four horror movies condensed into a five-minute montage. In addition to plenty of memorable scenes, the video clip includes a few snippets of music that you’ll probably recognize.

You might notice a theme as you watch, and that’s no accident. The brains behind the Horror Portfolio (Alex AKA hatinhand on YouTube) split the video into chapters made up of Haunted Houses & Ghost Stories, Angels & Demons, and Killers & Slashers.

To see the full list of the films and music used in the video, you can check out this YouTube page.

What do you think? Pretty wicked, isn’t it?

Nicholas Hoult is a love-struck zombie in Warm Bodies

Nicholas Hoult, zombie, Warm Bodies

‘Love story’ and ‘zombie’ are two words (okay, three words) that I never thought would go together, but this is a world where vampires sparkle and girls actually look forward to becoming one of the undead. What has happened to the world?

Nicholas Hoult (Beast in X-Men: First Class) is a zombie named R that falls in love with a girl when he absorbs the memories of her boyfriend after eating his brains. As you can see from the pic above, we’re not talking about the zombies from The Walking Dead. I’m actually wondering if this dude will sparkle too after the rain stops and the sun peeks through the clouds.

However, the movie is based on Isaac Marion’s novel of the same name, and I have to give the author credit where credit is due. He came up with a twist that hasn’t been done before. At least I don’t think a zombie love story has been done before. When it comes to standing out in a crowd, a unique twist is all it takes… and that twist can frequently lead to a movie deal because Hollywood hasn’t come up with an original idea on their own for a while.

Maybe the saccharine-sweet storyline of the Twilight saga has jaded me to the possibilities of an undead love story actually working on a decent level. After all, aren’t zombies allowed to find love too? Unique dietary needs and questionable hygiene shouldn’t knock them out of the dating pool, should it?

For better or worse, I’m a fan of all things zombie, so there’s a fairly decent chance that I’ll be standing in line when this movie hits theaters on August 10th. Until then (or at least until I read the book), I’ll keep an open mind.

What do you think? Are zombies the new romantic leads?
