I put Dead Man Walking up for free on Amazon once again. I had previously decided to only use the free promotions for special occasions, but it turns out that satisfying my curiosity is a special occasion all by itself. Who knew?
The reason for the burning curiosity? I’ve only used the free promos one day at a time, when so many writers say two-day and three-day blocks work best. So, I decided to put it to the test and see what happens. Just to test the power of Amazon, I bit my lip and resisted the urge to share the news with anybody because I wanted to see what would happen with absolutely no marketing. The ‘keep quiet’ plan was a short-lived one, as you can obviously tell by this blog post. Now that the cat’s out of the bag, I’ll go ahead and make it official. Dead Man Walking is free until midnight Saturday, 3/3/12. If you’d like to give my zombies-in-prison story a try then hop on over to the side of the page and click the link, and know that warm, fuzzy feeling you experience is my undying gratitude for taking a chance on a newbie author. It’s gotten some great reviews so it can’t suck, right?
You can see the results of the in-progess experiment in the image above. My little zombie novelette is ranked #37 in the Horror > Occult category. WooHoo 🙂 How high will it ultimately go? Good question… and one that you can have a hand in answering. I will, of course, make sure to share the final results with you.
Also, my new release, Little Demons, is free over on Smashwords. Well, actually it’s 99 cents, but it can be free if you use this coupon code – MQ66M. It’s a little different because there are no vampires, zombies, or werewolves anywhere in sight, but the residents of Hale more than make up for the absence of those conventional characters. I hope you give Little Demons a try and let me know what you think of it. Now’s a perfect time because -ya know – the whole free thing 😉
I really will try to get better with the whole blogging-on-a-regular-basis thing but I’m already hard at work on my next book, The Doctor is In (Tales of Doctor Horror #1). This dude has been banging around inside my head for a while now and I have to get him out so the headaches will finally go away.
I’ll keep you updated with both the great KDP Select experiment and the progress on Doctor H.
