Every story has a beginning, and mine starts in Houston, Texas. I discovered the power of books at a very early age, devouring just about every book I got my hands on, but things really changed when I read J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings. It completely blew me away, and I’ve been a permanent resident in the land of fantasy ever since. Of course, I also made frequent visits to the land of horror with names like Koontz and King acting as my guides. They made for some truly sleepless, but exciting, nights.
I’ve been creating new creatures and exciting adventures for as almost long as I’ve been reading, but those stories stayed tucked safely inside my brain. A severe case of shyness had me convinced that I would shrivel up and die if I ever became the center of attention so my new worlds remained hidden from others. Eventually, the shyness was left behind but I knew there was no way I could be in the same crowd of people that wrote the books I enjoyed reading, so my stories remained untold.
Eventually, things like the Internet and Twitter came along and I discovered something that allowed me to see the world in a whole new light. I learned that authors are people. Yeah, I know, it’s pretty amazing. It was incredible to learn that the names on the bookstore shelves (and on Amazon) actually did things like feed their pets and go grocery shopping and even wonder if anyone would be interested in what they were writing. It was an epiphany that would change everything.
I currently live outside Huntsville, Texas with one loving wife, one stubborn dog, and five cats that are convinced they run the place… and they really do. When I’m not providing entertainment or gadget news on various websites, I’m usually hard at work on bringing my imagination to life for others.
I hope you join me on the journey. Come along and let me tell you a story.
